My College Workout Routine

Monday, February 20, 2017

Happy Monday, I hope you all had a great weekend! Today I thought I would share what my workout routine has been like and how it has changed since being in college. In high school, I worked out at my gym 6 days a week Monday-Saturday, and then usually went on a run/walk on Sundays. I would start with a circuit training arms and legs and then followed with 20-30 minutes of cardio. I would finish with an ab routine everytime. Over the summer, I was doing Crossfit at a gym in my town 3-5 times a week. It definitely got me in good shape and I gained a lot of muscle fast!

Since I’ve moved to school, I’ve had a difficult time finding a routine that would work best for me. After trying different things, I now switch off everyday between arms and legs and finish with 30-45 minutes of cardio. Everyday I do different ab routines as well, Pinterest has been great for finding some different ones so that my muscles are always surprised and sore! You can follow my fitness Pinterest board here for some great workouts. I’m also constantly adding to it.

As for cardio, I do something different everyday! One machine that I have loved for years is the arc trainer. It’s similar to an eliptical machine and is great for longer sessions. I usually spend 35 minutes to an hour when using this machine for a good sweat. Other days I will do an incline fast-walk or a HIIT workout on a treadmill. Since being at school, I also do the stair master some days too! I find this the hardest and usually only use it to warm up. This app is great for beginner runners! I have never been a fan of running but this app helped me become a better runner and be able to run longer.

When I’m home from school, I love attending spin classes at a local studio. It is a great workout and a good switch up for cardio! I’ve gone to a couple barre classes as well and have also loved them.

What do you guys like to do for a workout routine! I would love to hear from you guys, I’m always looking for something new to try!

  1. Great post! I think it's hard even being a Mom of two, to find time to fit in a work out! So something that is short but to the point is what I need!

  5. Wish I had motivation to go workout to be honest but I dislike being sweaty lol Like I can't stand hot summers. Currently the only working out I'm doing is walking. Even if I walk around the block or Target lol

  7. I find it tough to fit in work outs during the week too. Recently I have forced myself to do it straight after work. Seems to work.
