NSale Try On

Friday, July 21, 2017

Hi everyone and happy Friday! Today, the Nordstrom sale is officially open to the public and I wanted to share with you guys all the items that I purchased. I also wanted to share with you guys the sizing details and how to wear them! Just for reference, I am usually an XS or S in tops and bottoms, so if I am wearing an XS it runs larger and if I’m wearing an S it runs smaller. Unfortunately, some of the items I purchased have sold out but I’m hoping they restock them soon.

Item #1: Topshop Stripe Colorblock cardigan ($56.90 originally $85)
Details: This item is sold out right now but fingers crossed it comes back in stock :(. I am wearing a 4 US and wish I got a 2 US because it is very oversized.

Item #2: Hinge block heel bootie ($79.90 originally $119.95)
Details: Comes in 4 colors, I bought the taupe. Size down if you are between sizes, I am wearing a 7.5 These booties are too cute and comfortable! They have a small cut out on the side which I love because it’s not too low and looks New England weather proof! I am thinking about getting the black pair as well.

Item: BP. plaid cotton shirt ($31.90 originally $49)
Details: Comes in 5 colors, I purchased a deep red. Wearing a size XS. Would look great under this cardi that is also part of the sale! The material of this shirt is great because it’s cotton but not too thick.

Item #1: BP. v-neck pullover ($24.90 originally $39)
Details: Comes in 5 colors, I went with ivory. I love this so much more than I thought I would! The fit is just how I wanted. Runs large, I am wearing an XS.

Item #2: Blondo Olivia knee high boot ($189.90 originally $284.95)
Details: Comes in black leather and black suede, I am wearing black leather. I was so happy to find these because I had a pair just like them last year but lost them on a vacation! They are waterproof which is another plus for the winter. The description says they are knee high but I would say they are closer to over the knee. I am wearing a size 8 but they are definitely roomy and the 7.5 was a little too snug. The employee that was helping me out at Nordstrom while I was trying these on said they are extremely comfortable and a great dupe for the Stuart Weitzman boots.

Item #1: Topshop ripped denim jacket ($63.90 originally $95)
Details: The ripped denim jacket trend has been so in lately so I was pumped to see this part of the sale. Topshop sizing can be a little weird so I went with a US 2 (size guide says that it fits like a 0). It fits how I wanted it too, which is pretty fitted. If you want a more oversized look, I would size up!

Item #2: SP Black destroyed boyfriend jeans ($38.90 originally $59)
Details: Okay I was a little unsure of sizing when purchasing these because I’m not use to number sizing lol but I went with a 26 (size guide said it was the equivalent to a 0). At first I was not so sure about these because they aren’t as black as pictured online (they are more of a faded black/dark grey) and fit a little snug, but now I’m obsessed! They fit a little looser than typical skinny jeans, so if you want the true boyfriend fit I would size up.

Item #1: BLANKNYC suede miniskirt ($64.90 originally $98)
Details: Comes in 2 colors (burgundy and a cognac color), I purchased burgundy. I’ve been needing a good skirt for fall and this is it! I am wearing a size 26 and it fits perfectly.

Item #2: Tory Burch Adeline boot ($299.90 originally $498)
Details: Comes in 2 colors, I got the almond color. If there’s one item you buy from this sale, it’s these! They were definitely a splurge for me but I was in need of new riding boots and it was one of the items on my list that I definitely needed. I am between a 7.5 and an 8 in shoes, so I bought both and I’m keeping the 8’s. I am wearing a regular calf size, but they do come in wide calf.

Item #1: The Laundry Room And Then Brunch sweatshirt ($58.90 originally $88)
Details: Wearing size small. I live in lounge clothes so I picked this up right away! Can be worn to bed, to class, to breakfast, or just lounging around.

Item #2: Zella Live in high waist legging ($35.90 originally $54)
Details: Comes in 2 colors (black and burgundy), I purchased the black. I’ve been wanting these for a year now so I finally bought them and they are the best! I am between an XS and a S usually and bought both. Ended up returning the XS because the S fit way better. Can be worn under a sweater/tunic or to the gym.

And I think that’s it! I know it’s a lot but this sale is so good and it’s the best time to save on fall fashion. I rounded up all of my favorite picks from the sale here and all of my favorite activewear here. Have a great weekend!

The Best of #NSale: Activewear

Wednesday, July 19, 2017

Nike sports bra // Zella color block leggings // Zella high waist moto leggings // Adidas tank // Zella training jacket // Zella grey crop leggings // Yoga hoodie // “Om Yes” tee // Zella black pullover // Zella open knee leggings // Nike 3-pack no show socks // Zella live in high waisted leggings // The North Face knit jacket // S’well water bottle

Two more days until the public can shop the Nordstrom Anniversary sale!! I hope to make your shopping a little more easier by rounding up my top picks of the sale. I shared all of my favorite from the sale in this post here, and today I wanted to share with you guys some great workout wear that’s part of the sale (and there’s a ton!). The items in the sale do sell out fast, so I would recommend making a list of the items you definitely want and ordering them online or as an in-store pickup so you get your correct size.

If you guys watch my Instagram stories, you know that fitness is a big part of my life and I follow a good schedule that works for me. That being said, I practically live in workout clothes and always try to pick up cute items when I see them! I was super impressed with the athleisure section of the sale when I saw it. I had been eyeing these Zella leggings for about a year now because I heard the quality of them is so good. I got the black pair in an extra-small, but I am hoping they stretch a little because they are tight. So if you are in between sizes, I would probably go up. I love how they are high waisted, they are so flattering!

Make sure to shop the sale this Friday! I am hoping to get all of the items I bought in by then, but if not I will make a post trying on the items that I do get!

Pom Printed Romper

Monday, July 17, 2017

Happy Monday, everyone! This has been my go-to summer outfit for pretty much any occasion. For this look, I dressed it up with some wedges and jewelry, but you could also make the romper casual with some flip flops and a ponytail. This romper is definitely the cutest one I’ve ever owned! It has pom-poms, flared sleeves, the cutest print, and is off the shoulder! I’ve also been loving this Baublebar necklace lately and have been wearing it with everything. And if you don’t already have these wedges - get them because you need them!

Throughout the week I should be getting all of the stuff that I ordered from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, so I’ll make sure to have a post trying on some of the items I got before the sale is released to the public (non-cardholders can shop the sale July 21st). I’m too excited to get my hands on all the stuff!

Hi everyone! I hope you all have been having a great start to the summer. I’m hoping to start posting more frequently and have lots of great outfit posts coming. Yesterday, I shared my NSale picks on the blog and will be posting a try-on post once I get all the items in!

Until then, I had to share with you guys this dress that I recently got at Anthropologie. I actually have been a style guru for College Fashionista this summer, and I wrote all about this outfit on the site! You can check it out here. This off the shoulder number is everything and the material is great! I would recommend ordering a petite size if you’re under 5’4” like myself, I didn’t and could definitely have used a petite size!

Have a great weekend! If you guys are shopping the Nordstrom sale I would love to hear what you guys are buying, comment below!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

Thursday, July 13, 2017

Good morning everyone! Today is the first day of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale for card holders! The sale started at midnight pacific time last night, so obviously I stayed up till 3 am to wait to see all the good deals! I shared what I purchased in my Instagram story, but I will link it in a bar below as well. I must say I am super impressed with all of the great clothing items that are part of the sale this year and some great brands! I plan on heading on over to Nordstrom later today to try on some of the stuff I ordered as well. If you don’t own a Nordstrom card, you can still apply for one and shop the sale early, or wait until it goes public July 21st. I shared some of my favorites from the sale in the picture above, but I couldn’t even fit them all so I’ve linked some more staples in a bar below as well :).

These items will go fast, so don’t hesitate to buy them! I bought these Tory Burch boots the second I saw them because I know they will be gone before you know it.

How to Wear Black in the Summer

Friday, June 23, 2017

Forever 21 off the shoulder striped dress (sold out similar options here and here) // Marc Fisher espadrille wedges // Kate Spade cross body bag // Kendall + Kylie aviator sunglasses // Kate Spade watch // The Styled Collection bracelet

The colors in my wardrobe change so drastically comparing winter to summer! In the fall/winter seasons all I pretty much wear is black. In the spring/summer I wear so much color and I always think it’s so weird! Is it just me? Anyway, I found this adorable off the shoulder dress for under $20 and it was the perfect way to incorporate my love for darker colors into my summer wardrobe. I paired it with my Marc Fisher espadrille wedges to compliment that summer feel! I truly can’t get enough of these Kendall and Kylie aviators, I seriously wear them everyday. Have a great weekend!

Brights & Beachy Waves

Friday, May 26, 2017

Topshop cami // Hollister Jeans // Marc Fisher wedges // similar lariat necklace // Tory Burch cross body bag // Kendall and Kylie aviators (I wear these every single day! Under $200!)  // Kate Spade watch // The Styled Collection bracelet // Baublebar link bracelet

For some reason, I love embracing my natural waves in the summer! In the winter, I hate everything about my natural hair - color and texture - so I get the keratin treatment and style it pretty much everyday. I also have to color it every 2 months in the winter, so weird! Anyways, I decided to go au natural for today’s blog post. I’ve been loving this orangey color this season because it goes great with a tan. My tan Marc Fisher wedges just came in after being backordered for a month and I’m too excited. I have these in black and I wear them all the time!

Have a great weekend everyone and thanks for stopping by!

How I Avoided the Freshman 15

Monday, May 22, 2017

Happy motivation Monday everyone! Summer is coming fast and for some reason I’m always much better about my meals and workouts in the spring. Lately, I’ve been surprisingly good about not missing the gym, staying on schedule with my lifting days, and attending kickboxing classes! I am proud of myself because I was definitely nervous that I would struggle with this my freshman year of college. I had always been warned about the dreadful “freshman fifteen” and how it was not a myth! Prior to starting college, I was doing Crossfit over the summer, but was not as fit as I used to be because I was home all day for summer.

I made it a goal to get back into full swing the start of college but it definitely didn’t happen! It’s hard to stay fit in college because you want to meet other people and make friends, so obviously you would rather go hangout with new people than go to the gym! You also have so much free time now, so it’s so easy to just sit in your bed with a bag of chips next to you and watch Netflix all day. In high school, I never had any free time being in school and working two jobs, so this was a shock to me and I truly didn’t know what to do with myself. While I did find myself having less motivation to go to the gym, I made sure to stick to these tips.

Eating a healthy breakfast: This is so important because you are starting your day on the right foot. If I have a coffee with no sugar and a low-fat greek yogurt in the morning, I tend to stay on the right track throughout the day for my snacks and meals. I’d always say to myself “You ate healthy so far today, don’t ruin it!”

Avoiding the Dessert Line: This was soo hard for me because pretty much the only food I liked in my dining hall at school was the desserts! It was the first thing I saw when I walked in and the last thing on my way out, so it was so hard to avoid but I managed to do it. I never even tried most of the things so it made me never crave it!

Use Your Free Time Wisely: Like I said, you will be surprised at the amount of free time you have in college. You may not have class everyday and it’s a completely different schedule than high school! It’s so easy to spend your days in your dorm all day catching up on social media and Netflix. Instead, go to the gym on campus, walk around campus, look up fitness studios nearby (they may have some type of student discount!), or get a job! This will take up your time in a positive way.

Keeping healthy(ish) snacks in your dorm: This was something I was pretty good at for the most part. When I would go grocery shopping for my dorm, I made it a goal to get healthy or healthy versions of my favorite snacks. For example, typical snacks I would keep in my dorm were Skinny Pop (my fave!), sweet potato tortilla chips, protein bars, carrots, celery, unsalted pretzels, and red peppers. This stopped me from eating unhealthy while lounging in my dorm.

Indulging When You Really Want to: Depriving yourself from your favorite unhealthy foods will just make you binge one day! Me and my roommate were obsessed with this pizza place near our school, so we always ordered it every once in a while when both of us really wanted it. We never let ourselves get too excessive and stuck to once every two weeks! I loveeee pizza and actually ended up eating it less in college because I hated the dining hall pizza and pretty much only ate it when me and my roommate would order it.

Taking advantage of the free school gym: This is so important! Most schools offer a free full gym for students when they dorm. People always use the excuse that they can’t get fit because they can’t afford a gym membership, well in college you don’t need the money for it! I recommend taking advantage of this because it is such a better way to make use of your free time and is a great stress reliever from all the exams and group projects thrown at you. I made it a commitment to go the my school gym once every day while dorming, and it was even easier for me because there was a second smaller gym in my own dorm building!

What do you guys do to stay fit in college?

The Perfect Summer Jumpsuit

Friday, May 19, 2017

Long time no talk everyone! I’m making it a goal to get back to my regular schedule these next couple of weeks! I have been pretty busy getting back into the routine of working instead of being in class/doing homework and it’s almost more hectic. BUT I’ve been finding the cutest pieces for summer, including this jumpsuit! I bought this Mother’s Day weekend when the Loft was having a sale and oh my god, this might be my favorite purchase this year. First of all, it’s linen so it’s extremely comfy. I love the culotte style to the pants and can be worn dressed up or down. For example, I wore it to work one day with a cardigan over it and then wore it at night for dinner with some dressy earrings! These Baublebar earrings I just picked up are also my new favorite, they go with everyone! I was surprised how much use I’ve gotten out of them since I received them in the mail.

Have a great weekend everyone! I’m working pretty much all day everyday this weekend, surprised?!

Trending: Neck Scarves

Friday, May 12, 2017

Long time no talk, friends! (Disclaimer: Don’t mind my very wrinkly shirt, I packed it in my suitcase when I was moving out of school and it took me a while to unpack, lol!) I am loving the neck scarf trend this season. I think it is so fun, but I know it is not for everyone! After wearing this outfit, I definitely want to buy more and I think they compliment the off the shoulder trend so well. I got mine for under $6 at Forever 21! My shirt is also a bargain too with being under $20. My boyfriend also recently got me these blue Tory Burch which I’ve been eyeing forever! You guys know I’m a huge fan of the Miller sandal, this is my 3rd pair I own! I’m sooo tempted to buy these fringe ones because they are on sale, but I know I don’t need them. Have a great weekend everyone and happy Mother’s Day!

Currently Craving

Wednesday, May 3, 2017

Happy Wednesday, loves! Sorry for the no post on Monday, I was super busy this weekend with work and just didn’t get to it! But luckily now that I’m out of school I’ll have plenty of time to post :) I’m trying my hardest to curb my shopping addiction for the next month but it’s hard with all this cute stuff! For today’s post, I’m sharing all the stuff I’m craving lately. Watch out for some great sales going on soon for Mother’s Day!

River Island babydoll romper: This romper is so fun and girly! I love baby blue for the summer because it makes you look so tan. I also love how simple it is.

Circus by Sam Edelman “Rose All Day” espadrilles: These espadrilles are too cute for casual summer days. Need these for summer to pair with a basic white v neck and distressed denim shorts!

BP floral ruffle hem dress: This floral dress would be so cute for a Mother’s Day brunch or any summer occasion! It’s under $50 and comes in 2 colors, I need them both!

Tory Burch Shaw espadrilles: I was eyeing these last week during the Tory Burch Spring Event sale and finally made the move to order them yesterday when I saw Nordstrom was price matching!

BP marble sunglasses: On the brighter (and cheaper) side of things, look at these adorable marble sunnies for $14! These remind me of the Quay sunglasses from last year and I definitely need to pick these up.

Chloe round sunglasses: I linked these in a post I recently published about saving or splurging on sunglasses and haven’t stopped thinking about them since. Soo not my typical style but I just love them! A little out of my price range though, lol.

Fitbit Flex 2: I have been searching for a new Fitbit for quite some time (I have the original Fitbit Flex, it’s a little too bulky for my liking!) When I saw that the price has been marked down for Mother’s Day sales, I was sure of getting the black one but now I’m kind of leaning towards this pretty lavender color, thoughts?

Asos scruba ruffle crop top: I saw this amazing crop top on Vandifair’s Instagram and omg! Too cute for summer and the color is amazing.

Healthy Greek Yogurt Pancakes

Friday, April 28, 2017

Happy Friday everyone! Today, I am officially moving back home and wrapping up my freshman year of college! I am so excited to say the least and it couldn’t have come any sooner, lol. To be honest, living at school was not for me and I didn’t enjoy it as much as I had hoped I would. With that said, I came home a lot when I didn’t have class this past semester and will be commuting to the same school in the fall. One thing I enjoyed about coming home a lot was making my own meals! If you guys watch my Instagram stories, you’ll know that I love routine and like to start my day by going to the gym and coming home and making a nutritional breakfast. I am very picky and am terrible at eating healthy since I eat very limited foods, so breakfast is my favorite because it’s so easy!

I found this recipe on Pinterest a couple weeks ago and thought I’d try it out since I loveee pancakes. They were amazing! I wanted to share them with you guys because I’ve been making them so much lately for after my workouts. The recipe is also super easy and makes enough for a couple of days! This breakfast is perfect to try out this weekend also. This weekend, I plan on attending some kickboxing classes and getting some spring cleaning done! My bedroom has pretty much looked the same my whole life and has had no theme to it. So since I’m moving home for good, I wanted to redecorate the whole thing! So that’s pretty much my plan all weekend, lol. What are you guys up to this weekend?

Duster Cardi

Wednesday, April 26, 2017

Abercrombie duster striped cardigan // Abercrombie peplum cami (comes in 7 different colors for $10!) // PacSun distressed jeans // Marc Fisher LTD wedges // Burberry sunglasses // Rebecca Minkoff crossbody // Kate Spade watch

Happy Wednesday everyone! I recently scored this cardigan and cami on sale Easter weekend when Abercrombie was having 50% off the whole store! I love how Abercrombie has reinvented themselves and I still can always find something I love there. These Marc Fisher wedges are just about my favorite shoe ever and I can’t wait for my other pair to come in! Have a great rest of the week :)

Blogger Interview

Tuesday, April 25, 2017

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to share with you guys a recent interview I did for blogger Bree Fesh at Stark Raving Chic. It was an awesome experience to be able to get some advice from a more experience blogger and see what a day in her life was like!

H: How did you first start blogging?
B: From a young age, I always enjoyed literature and writing, as a kid I always thought I would be an author of some sort. Whether it was journaling, short stories, or research essays for school, I just loved writing. However, after I graduated college and first began working in my field of advertising photography, I stopped writing because at the beginning of my new job, I was just too consumed to do anything else but work. However, about six months after the excitement of my job at DSG corporate wore off, I began to feel incredibly uninspired and very bored with my life. So, I decided why not start a blog as a hobby, and that is how my blog, Stark Raving Chic, got started.

H: What are your favorite type of posts to write about?
B: Hmmmm, this one is tough. Though I do enjoy my usual “outfit of the day” posts, I’d have to say the posts that are the most fun for me to write are ones that are not about me, e.g. interviews, events, and posts about local boutiques. Personally, I just love meeting new people and all three of those categories allow me to do just that! I also like writing about those topics because until my run of the mill outfit posts, they feel less rehearsed when I’m writing them. Sure, I know each of my OOTD’s are different, but there are only so many ways to format an article about an outfit, where with an interview, an event, or checking out a new boutique, you don’t know what’s in store for you until you get there and that’s what makes it so exciting!

H: What’s your typical day as a blogger like?
B: My days honestly range from painfully boring to crazy eventful—there is no in between, at least in my schedule. I would say two days out of the week are “boring days” where I simply sit at my desk (or kitchen table because my one dog does not know how to go upstairs) and do run of the mill things such as answer emails, go over my blogging budget, plan out/update my editorial calendar, and watch mind numbing amounts of Bob’s Burgers, just because that’s generally what is on Netflix for background noise. However, the other five days, are dedicated to writing all of my articles, completing my photoshoots, editing photos, and attending meetings or other events. Though I don’t get much down time, I have to admit, that my boring days drive me bonkers, so I don’t think I could handle more than two!

H: What social media site that you use to brand yourself have you found most successful and why?
B: My most utilized social media site is my Instagram, though they all have their perks. The reason why I personally like Instagram so much is because taking photos is simply in my nature and Instagram is the most efficient way to share my photos that I take for my blog! However, the runner up site that generates the second most amount of traffic, would have to be Reddit. I mean, when you submit your content to “the front page of the internet” you’re bound to boost your traffic!

H: What do you enjoy most about blogging?
B: As I stated earlier, my favorite thing about blogging is meeting people and getting to interact with so many different personalities! I just think it’s so cool to be able to connect with others while doing what I love.

H: What do most people not know about being a blogger?
B: As I stated a few questions back, I feel like many people do not realize how much work actually goes into a successful blog. It is definitely a full-time job.

H: If you were starting out blogging again, what would you do differently?
B: I feel like I would have not rushed into it so quickly. Though my blog has grown into a success, there were totally some posts during the beginning that were either useless, not well thought out, or the photos were not up to par and should have been reshot, and quite frankly, those posts mad my brand look sloppy (obviously, these posts have since been removed after my revamp). So, I guess my advice to my former 21-year-old self would be to slow down and plan things out more—it’ll save you a lot of grief later.

Thanks for stopping by, xx.
