How I Shop

Tuesday, July 7, 2015

I can't deny the fact that I am a hugee shopaholic. Being a shopaholic and living on a high school girl budget doesn't always ideally mix. So for this reason, I have a lot of rules for myself when it comes to shopping. One that I like to swear by is never spending over $50 on a piece of clothing, unless I really need it. This excludes shoes and handbags for me because I get a lot of use out of those, so putting a lot of money towards them can be justified.

  • Think of what you already own that will go with it. Try to put together at least 3 different outfits in your head.
  • Is it a basic? Usually, basics can go a long way and can be kept around for a longgg time (I still have tank tops from 4 years ago!). Since they can be worn so many ways, they usually are worth the money. But if your buying another black t-shirt when you already have so many, then it probably isn't worth it.
  • Sleep on it! Usually I'll go to the mall and see something that I loved online and try it on. If I still love it but am not sure if I wanna spend the money, I'll usually go home and think about it. If I still love it just as much the next week, then odds are I'll probably go back and get it  ;)
  • Think about how much the piece of clothing is actually worth. If you want a pair of denim shorts that are $50, you can probably find something exactly like them for cheaper at a different store.
  • Choose wisely who you go shopping with! If you have a friend that always tells you to buy it when your not sure, you're going to end up broke! (This is why I prefer shopping alone :))
  • When was the last time you went shopping? Last week? If so, you probably don't need to be buying more clothes again.
I would love to hear your guys' shopping tips? Comment them!
